About Us

Donegal Down Syndrome Society. Letterkenny based resource centre.
The Donegal Down syndrome society was officially formed in 1987, received charity status in 1989 and currently has over 130 members.

DDS is located on Convent Rd, Letterkenny. The premises comprises of an office, meeting room, storage room and disabled toilet.

DDS has one paid employee that is the office administrator who arranges classes, supports parents and applies for funding among other duties.

For Full & Independent Lives

The society aims to help its member’s live full and independent lives. This is worked towards by providing support to new parents, providing complimentary classes such as swimming, yoga, music, art and drama to its young members and organising events and activities such as fun days out.

Activities & Classes

The society arranges regular activities and classes for the young adults also with monthly cinema evenings and bowling nights together with educational classes and cultural classes such as literature, maths, music, drama and art.

Fundraising

DDS are involved with national fundraising events such as the HB Ice Cream Sunday events and the Honey Pots annual collection dates.

DDS also have branch fundraising opportunities such as the annual church gate collection, which helps to raise the funds needed to provide our services.
